Common questions.

How much does an assessment cost?

The assessment is free with a valid Ontario health card, or $30 without. Medication costs are separate and may be covered by your drug plan.

How quickly will I hear back?

A licensed Ontario pharmacist reviews your questionnaire and follows up within 24 business hours (our average is about 5 minutes), often much sooner. If anything urgent is flagged in your answers, we will direct you to the right level of care.

Do I need a family doctor or a referral?

No. You can start without a family doctor, referral or appointment.

Will I receive a prescription?

Yes, when it’s clinically appropriate. Ontario pharmacists are authorized to prescribe for these conditions, so if medication is right for you, your pharmacist will prescribe it and we can deliver it at no extra cost. If a prescription isn’t the best option, they’ll recommend what is, whether that’s an over-the-counter product, self-care or a referral to the right level of care.

Can you prescribe narcotics or other controlled substances?

No. Pharmly does not and cannot prescribe narcotics, opioids or any other controlled substances. Pharmacist prescribing in Ontario covers specific minor ailments only and does not include controlled drugs. If you need one of these medications, please speak with your doctor or nurse practitioner.
